We wanted Mateo to be out of his crib before the twins came because we were planning to use it for them. It turned out that one of my good friends, Jessica, gave me hers so we will not use ours initially. So we started to prepare him for a big bed by reading books about moving to a big bed at daycare and at night. We asked him a few times if he wants a big bed too but at the beginning he was saying “not now” and then he started to say “soon”. Until one day, he climbed out of his crib. We are like ok, it is time to move!! But what bed do we buy? Toddler bed, twin bed? At first, we were looking for a toddler bed. But as I was reading, I realized that we will have to change it within a year (max 2 years) and we will be not able to lie down with him. So we decided to go for a twin bed. I really think we made a good choice. Take a guess where I bought it?!! Ya ya… on amazon!!
We bought a Canwood Alpine II Twin Bed.
It is a great bed and we are very happy with this purchase. The color is beautiful and the bed looks great once it’s set up. I think the quality is really good. It is a Canadian company and the price was less than to buy it directly in Canada!
Remember, if you are looking for the best price, it is good to check everywhere! Amazon is not always the cheapest and can be one day one price, another day another price!!
Anyway, We also bought the mattress and some cool sheets. Ya, we needed attractive sheets to make it even more exciting to sleep in the big bed!
So we bought Sesame Street Twin Sheet Set. Mateo loves Elmo so we did it!
We built the bed with with him. Very easy to build and after that we let him play on it! The only thing we do not allow is to jump on it!
But the first night we forgot the rail! Oops…. Andrew didn’t want to put something underneath but I insisted to have an air mattress in case he fell down. Ya, I am happy I insisted because he fell down many times this night!
Mateo really loves his new bed. I was worried that he would be able to go everywhere if he was free of the crib! But it is not the case! He never goes out of his bed after we put him!
In the morning he will call us and wait!
At the beginning he was coming to his door but never went further!
Now he calls us and he stays in his bed! We never said anything about not leaving his room, we never told him to stay in his bed either! So yippee, we are lucky, I will even say that we are very, very lucky!! I know some kids are out of bed and go everywhere! We do not have a boy like this! And I am very happy and I am not worried at all!!!
