Maeva and Miya are 7 months old

What a month…  These girls are very cool and I am so fortunate to have them. It is a lot of work and sleep deprivation but I enjoy them every day! I cannot complain! It is true that I am sometimes frustrated but it is nothing compared to the joy they bring in this house!! Mateo loves his sisters so much and it is so cool to watch him! This morning he was reading a book to them! He was doing it like a teacher! Reading and showing the pictures… So cute to watch their interaction! Maeva and Miya smile at him back!!!

My three children are awesome! Mateo is such a good brother!

Let’s come back to what happened this month!

As you know we started solids and it wasn’t as easy as I expected. They are still learning how to eat… It is getting better but they still don’t open their mouths for the spoon.  It is weird for me because I don’t remember I had this problem with Mateo! I know they are ready to eat and they love it but it is a battle to put the spoon in the mouth!!

And when they eat, they have to wait their turn and this one it is not so easy!! So I give 4 spoons to Maeva and I switch to Miya, 4 spoons …. It is the only way it is fair for both and they don’t have to wait too much!! Actually, Maeva has to wait a little longer because the 4 spoons with Miya takes more time than the 4 spoons to Maeva!! But it is 4 spoons so they have to learn to wait!! I can tell you they are not so happy to wait so I hear them complaining (not crying but complaining!!).

The other problem we still have with solid food is that they are still constipated… I gave them pears, blueberries, plum, water, juice (homemade) but it is still not working out. They are still smiling so I am not too concerned but I know when they try to poo… They scream… poor girls. Anyway, as I said in my last post about constipation, it is the joy of introducing solid foods!! I even stopped a few days to feed them solids but the problem is after at night I have to feed them every 2 hours so it is more tiring for me!!! Today I am going to give them some flax oil (apparently it is a light laxative and good source of omega 3!). When this problem will be resolved, I will start to feed them twice a day.

Otherwise, they are now sitting without any support and they stay like this for a while! It is cool because it is more interactive! They don’t sit up by themselves yet. I even don’t know if they think about that! When they are lying down they are exploring… They are not crawling yet but I can tell you that they can go where they want (lucky me they don’t go far off the mat yet!!). But they move! Miya is so curious about everything. If I turn my head for two minutes, I will find her 2 meters away from where she was… she turns 360 degrees to look around and puts everything in her mouth… I think we will have to be very careful very soon!

Both can transfer toys from one hand to the other hand. Last time, I put both girls sitting facing each other with three toys. Maeva grabbed one and Miya grabbed another one. But Miya wanted the one Maeva had (of course), so she put the toy she had on her right far enough that Maeva can’t reach it. And discretely, she took Maeva’s toy! Maeva took the third toy but Miya wasn’t in agreement (she doesn’t say anything, doesn’t complain… she is quiet) but she put the second toy on the right next to the first one and grabbed Maeva’s toy!! It was so funny! Maeva looked at her with her big eyes like she was surprised but didn’t complain and finished by smiling at her sister!!! Ha ha ha Miya had three toys and Maeva none!!! Maeva does the same too but it is more Miya for now!! What is funny is that she is very determined and concentrates very quietly when she does that!! It is like she knows it is wrong so it is better to be quiet!!!!  I like her look of determination!

They started to responds to their own names. I was worried they will get confused but it doesn’t seem like they are. When I call Maeva she turns her head and the same with Miya. Cool!

These girls are smiling a lot! It is nice and when they laugh it is so funny!

Now their new game is that they want to stand up with our help! Oh this one is fun! They really love it! They don’t have any sign of walking but just stand up! It is going to be challenging with two babies but we will figure it out when it will be time!!!

Since the beginning of this week, they have baths at the same time! I bought two bath chairs and it is way faster! I wash one, put her in the bath chair when I am washing the second one! They like it a lot! We wanted to put Mateo in the bath at the same time but we can’t put too much water so it will be not fun for him yet. In few months we will see how it is working out!

What can I add? Maeva and Miya had their first swing time at the park. They loved it and they like to eat the seat!!! Ya they are still a little small but it was fun!

I am still exclusively breastfeeding the girls and regularly they like to bite me… I can tell you it is not fun for me! It is almost a game for them. I think they are trying to tell me something because they can look at me straight in the eyes and smile and bite me… grrr. Both girls do the same senario. But I don’t really understand why! Okay okay it might be because their two front teeth on the bottom are coming… They didn’t pop pop yet but it is very white!!

Ha… I almost forgot, they have separation anxiety! Sometimes, Andrew comes early enough that I don’t need to take the girls with me to pick Mateo up. I tell them I am going to pick up their brother and I will be back, I kiss them and leave. But each time I come back they are crying or screaming… So I ask Andrew what is going on and he said they started to scream as soon as I left! The only way they calm down (unfortunately doesn’t always work)  is when Andrew holds them. But even that sometimes doesn’t work. So When I am back, I take them and within 3 minutes, everything is okay and we can put them back on the floor! I can tell you I am a little worried for the daycare in few months… Because if they cry or scream all day, it will kill my heart! I think I am going to play peak a boo more often!

What Mommy?
What Mommy?

Voila, in overall they are very happy babies and I am having a lot of fun with them (like I had fun with Mateo at the same age!!) We still struggle at bedtime but I guess everything can’t be perfect!!!

I almost forgot, the girls are registered for swimming lessons for September. (it cost us a lot for three kids but we think it is very important!). All the family is going to be in the water at the same time! Mateo with his teacher and mommy and daddy with the girls! I am wondering how it is going to work out! I hope Mateo will not be too jealous as he really liked to be with us.  I hope  Mateo will not be sick that he can’t be in the water otherwise we will be in trouble!!!
